2019 Fall Fashion Trends and How Vintage Fits In
Every year for Spring/Summer and then Fall/Winter Scotch Street Vintage does a deep dive into the latest trends and then come up with how vintage fits in. This is the 2019 Fall/Winter fashion overview and over the next several weeks we will provide more in depth articles on specific trends. The 2019 fashion scene has A LOT going on but more importantly vintage not only fits in...it is a trend!
We put together this little word cloud because there are so many trends, we were having a hard time organizing our thoughts. The overall picture is 90s grunge, 80s "bigness", and 70s glam are all mixed up and everywhere this fall.
Colors & Patterns
There was a lot of color on the runways, especially in deep rich jewel tones but if asked, I would say, gold is the winner. Gold was everywhere from gold jewelry to gold lame to mustardy gold knits. Scotch Street Vintage have all kinds of gold vintage, here are a few of our favorites.

As for patterns there were two big things plaid and large artistic (sometimes outrageous) prints. There was also a lot of tweed and houndstooth wools out there making things feel just a little "english fox hunt". Here are our vintage items perfect for this trend.

Cozy & Oversized
This season definitely trends towards a more covered up comfortable vide with the exception of the "grunge prep" medley that shows a bit more skin. Overall though clothing silhouettes are oversized, coats are long, and loose fit knits come in everything from dresses, to pants, to blanket sweaters (which is a poncho FYI...people we do not have to rename everything). Big Bold Accessories...Except Purses
So I am going to be honest, this is one thing that threw me for a loop this season...everything is big, big bows, big skirts, statement necklaces, rings and bracelets, long (like foot long) dangling earrings and...itty bitty tiny bags and purses. For a special night out on the town, where you want to unplug and be completely present, these tiny bags are great but for every day probably not practical. Regardless we have vintage statement jewelry and tiny purses to make you on point with this trend.
